FIELD HOCKEY

The WMAA field hockey program is a new in-house instructional offering in spring 2025 for girls K-8th grade. No experience is necessary to join. The hope in offering this program is to increase awareness and participation in the sport to ultimately encourage better representation at the high school level. 

The field hockey program, run by experienced staff, will hold two hour-long practice sessions a week for 8 weeks at Doub's Park.  Athletes will be split according to age and experience. There will be a focus on fundamentals of the game, skill building, positioning, and game-like play. There is no competition with other teams at this time, nor will there be any week-end conflicts with WMAA's other sport offerings.

Participants will need to provide shinguards, mouthguards, a field hockey stick*, and a water bottle.  * Note that if this is a participant's first experience, sticks will be available for use.. 

Volunteers will be needed and encouraged to support the program after a brief background check.
